SNAME PRESENTS: MARITIME ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION, MARINE CLAIMS, SALVAGE & WRECK REMOVAL. TO ERR IS ENGINEERING

SNAME has the pleasure of inviting to the upcoming seminar, “Maritime Accident Investigation, Marine Claims, Salvage and Wreck removal. To Err is Engineering”. Marriage of Disciplines Provides Answers to Complex Engineering Problems, scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 6 June 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Posidonia Seminar Room 2B at Metropolitan Expo, Athens.

The seminar will bring together distinguished speakers to prove that a combination of various disciplines can be employed to solve difficult problems.

Dr. John Kokarakis, Vice President at Bureau Veritas, will make an introduction into Maritime Accidents and their Investigation, and present various cases showing that accidents do not occur from just one reason but it is the synergy of more than one factors which causes them. Cross pollination from other disciplines can be also very useful in the investigations. A critical aspect is also the communication and implementation of the lessons learned to avoid similar problems.

Stephen Tierney, Managing Director of TMC Marine, will focus on Raising the SEWOL and describe in detail the complex operation to raise the SEWOL in one single piece and deliver it onto the quayside in Mokpo port.

Daniel Dettor, Director – Client Services at Resolve Marine Group, will talk about Resolve’s Global Services Offering and highlight Resolve’s remarkable growth and involvement in ship owner focused compliance services, including OPA-90 Salvage & Marine Firefighting (SMFF) and Alaska Alternate Planning Criteria (APC) as well as its China Ship Pollution Response Organization (SPRO) activities.

Matthew Bierwagen, Naval Architect at Resolve Marine Group, will present a Case Study, Fire in the Atlantic & Wreck Removal at the End of the World and touch upon two interesting technical operations, a bulk carrier fire off the Canary Islands and wreck removal project conducted at the very southern tip of Chile.

We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be an informative and constructive seminar.
