Bolton manufacturer to showcase Pilot® Lidpack® marine hatch packing and specialist sealing solutions in Athens, almost 50 years after receiving a commemorative Athenian coin from Greek maritime partners.

Beldam Crossley will attend Posidonia 2026 in Athens next week, marking a full-circle moment for the UK manufacturer as it celebrates long-standing links with the Greek maritime market and its recent King’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.

The Bolton-based company will be represented by Gareth Holt and Lee O’Connor, who will be meeting shipowners, operators, technical buyers, distributors and marine contacts during the week.

The team will be discussing Pilot® Lidpack® marine hatch packing, rope seal packing, cord seals, PTFE seals, gaskets and custom sealing solutions for marine, offshore and industrial applications.

The visit carries extra meaning thanks to a historic piece held by the company: an enlarged copy of a 7th century B.C. Athenian coin, presented to The Beldam Packing & Rubber Company Ltd on its 100th anniversary in 1976 by John S. Lazopoulos & Co.

The item reflects Beldam Crossley’s long trading relationship with the Greek maritime sector and provides a timely link between the company’s heritage and its continued export growth.

For marine operators, sealing performance remains a practical and commercial issue. Hatch packing and rope seal products play an important role in helping protect cargo integrity, support compliance, reduce avoidable downtime and give operators confidence in demanding service conditions.

Lee O’Connor said:
“Finding this piece in the office was a lovely reminder that our links with Greece go back a long way. Posidonia already feels like a special event, but arriving fresh from a King’s Award for International Trade makes it even more meaningful. Gareth and I are looking forward to catching up with longstanding customers, meeting new contacts and talking about the sealing challenges that really matter on board.”

Gareth Holt, Sales Director at Beldam Crossley, said:
“Pilot® Lidpack® and our wider marine sealing range have been developed around real operational needs: reliability, material performance, compliance and dependable supply. Posidonia is the perfect place to have those practical conversations with the people specifying, maintaining and operating vessels.”
Beldam Crossley manufactures sealing and polymer engineering solutions from its UK facility, supporting customers across marine, offshore energy, aerospace, defence, chemical processing and wider industry.
