Curated showcase of start-ups and scale-ups addressing shipping’s most stubborn commercial and operational challenges — at the world’s leading maritime gathering
ATHENS, GREECE, June 3, 2026 — The Captain’s Table, the premier maritime technology innovation platform, today announced that on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, it will host its Maritime Innovation Demo Day at The Margi Hotel, Athens. This will be a curated showcase designed for shipping executives, operators, charterers and investors who want to see the latest technologies and hear how they are delivering value to the bottom line.
Founded in Hong Kong and active across the UK, Singapore and beyond, The Captain’s Table has spent seven years identifying maritime and logistics innovations that solve real problems for real operators. The innovation Demo Day is the platform’s second time at Posidonia and marks a deliberate step towards the Greek-owned fleet — one of the most significant in the world — and the wider European maritime community.
“We are not here to celebrate innovation for its own sake. We are here because shipping companies are under real pressure — on cost, on compliance, on crew — and the right technology can make a measurable difference. Posidonia is exactly the right place to have that conversation.”
— Tabitha Logan, Co-Founder, The Captain’s Table
Why This Event Matters
The maritime industry is navigating a convergence of pressures that have no precedent: tightening emissions regulation, volatile fuel markets, digitalisation of trade documentation, crew welfare and a generational shift in how vessels are operated and managed. Technology offers genuine solutions to each of these — but only when it is grounded in operational reality and selected with commercial rigour.
The Demo Day is structured around three distinct groups, each of whom will leave with something tangible:
- Ship owners, operators and charterers: A tightly curated view of technologies that have passed The Captain’s Table’s selection process — assessed not only for technical credibility but for demonstrable commercial value.
- Start-ups and scale-ups: Direct access to C-suite decision-makers from some of the world’s most significant shipping and logistics companies at the moment they are most focused on the future of their industry. Participants also benefit from a virtual preparation programme (15–29 May) and are welcomed into the Kai Community alumni network.
- Investors — VCs, CVCs and family offices: A focused pipeline of maritime and logistics ventures, at various stages of fundraising, vetted by a team with deep sector expertise and seven years of deal flow insight.
Innovation Themes: Where the Business Case Is Real
The Captain’s Table has always championed innovation which delivers revenue growth, cost reduction or competitive advantage. The four themes for Posidonia 2026 reflect where the commercial case is strongest:
- Environment: The economics of decarbonisation are shifting fast. Solutions that generate real returns by cutting carbon, methane and other greenhouse gas emissions — including alternative energy storage and adoption, carbon capture, and fuel and route optimisation technologies applicable to existing fleets — are precisely what operators need as CII ratings, EU ETS costs and charterer expectations tighten.
- Social Impact: The transition to zero-carbon shipping will only succeed if it takes the workforce with it. Companies developing practical education, retraining and safety solutions for seafarers, port workers and land-based energy professionals represent both a moral imperative and a growing commercial opportunity.
- Governance and Risk Management: From sanctions compliance and cybersecurity to PSC inspections and insurance risk, the regulatory and operational burden on maritime businesses is intensifying. Smart automation that reduces human error, improves audit trails and accelerates decision-making is no longer a nice-to-have.
- Digitised Supply Chain: The prize from supply chain digitalisation — faster cargo flows, fewer errors, lower financing costs, better procurement decisions — is well understood. The gap is in implementation. Solutions focused on trade document digitalisation, real-time data exchange, route optimisation and working capital management are in acute demand.
Partners and Supporters
The Demo Day is supported by a coalition of maritime innovation organisations and investors including Hong Kong Maritime and Port Development Board, The Dock, Innoport, TMV, Motion Ventures, HFW, the UK Department for Business and Trade, Lomarlabs and Flagship Founders. Their involvement reflects both the quality of the event and the strength of The Captain’s Table’s global network.
Applications and Attendance
Applications for start-ups and scale-ups are open until 30 April 2026. Finalists will be notified on 8 May 2026 and will participate in a virtual preparation programme from 15–29 May before the event on 3 June.
All on-the-ground costs at the event are covered for selected participants. Successful applicants will also gain access to the Kai Community — The Captain’s Table’s alumni network of maritime innovation leaders spanning cohorts from 2019 to the present day.
