Founded in 1960 and a member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) since 1988, Korean Register (KR) is the one and only internationally recognized classification society headquartered in the Republic of Korea. KR has been granted the Recognized Organization (RO) status by more than 80 flag Administrations such as the Republic of Korea, Panama, Marshall Islands, etc. to undertake statutory surveys and issue the relevant certificates in accordance with the various international conventions. Korea Offshore & Shipbuilding Association (KOSHIPA) was established as a non-profit organization on July 19, 1977, at a time when the Korean shipbuilding industry had just made inroads into the world shipbuilding market. Eight Shipbuilding companies, capable of building ships of 1,500 GT and over, are currently members of KOSHIPA.

The principal activities of KOSHIPA are:
• Promote member companies’ common interests and organize various Shipbuilding & Offshore-related sub-committees
• Conduct research for the Shipbuilding & Offshore industry, carry out shipbuilding studies, and publish various reports
• Conduct human resource development activities and programs such as training & education, development of job skills
• Promote international cooperation for the sound development of the world Shipbuilding & Offshore industry
