The ELSSI Substance Abuse Program was set up in 1993 to meet the needs of the international shipping community that was seriously concerned about the health and safety risks associated with drug and alcohol abuse on board ships. ELSSI fulfills the requirements of an independent international service which is credible both to the ship owners and the national & international authorities and the US Coast Guard. The ELSSI program is internationally approved. It exceeds the requirements of all the International Organizations that are concerned with Drug Testing and the U.S. Coast Guard. It is based on a U.S. SAMHSA approved lab (U.S Highest Accreditation) and a MRO Service. It is certified by Bureau Veritas for compliant quality management system (IS0 9001), for compliant environmental management system (ISO 14001), for occupational health and safety management system (ISO 45001).
